Alan Mercer, Pastor of Middle School Ministries
Alan has been at CCC since July of 2001, so he is coming up on 8 years. Before that he served in Upland, Indiana for 11 years. His entire adult professional life has been youth ministry. Before that he was a wilderness guide, a firefighter, a lifeguard, a waiter, and a janitor at a photo lab (wow... can we get him to do some of that stuff around here?). He's been married to Becky for 16 years, and they have four great kids: eighth grader Ethan (14 years old), seventh grader Katie (12 years old), 11-year-old Ashley, a fifth grader, and Jay, a third grader at nine years old. Reid Kapple, Pastor of High School Ministries
Reid began his job at "C3" in July 2008, just in time for a week at YouthFront Camp South. He's a graduate of Olathe North and Kansas State, and also attended Southern Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, before returning to KC to teach Bible to juniors and seniors at Kansas City Christian School. He and wife Megan just celebrated four years of marriage, and welcomed daughter Lula Maureen to the world the week daddy's new job was announced to the church. Reid's passion is to engage students with the truth, beauty, and glory of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Contact Reid by email by clicking his name above, or by phone at (913) 402-2713.
Emily Beydler, Director of Middle School Ministries
Emily joined our staff in May 2007, just in time for summer! Her previous youth ministry experience includes two summers as a cabin leader and one as cabin leader supervisor at YouthFront West, and two years at Covenant Chapel as a high school small group leader. She holds a degree in Life Span Human Development from Kansas State University. Emily also worked as a Special Education Para at Blue Valley West High School. She recently got married to Nick Beydler, whom she met at Starbucks... of course! Her parents, brother, and sister-in-law all live outside of Wichita, but really who she goes home to visit are her two precious nieces - a 2-year-old, Natalie, and Hallie, who was just born in February of 2009. She admittedly spoils them and doesn't feel badly about it. Emily loves being silly (spontaneous dance parties are a personal favorite), working out, and going to coffee shops. She also loves road trips and listening to loud music with the windows down. Call Emily at (913) 402-2798 or by email as you click her name.
Jarrod Heathcote, Student Ministries Associate - Olathe Campus
Jarrod is the face of student ministries on our Olathe Campus. He is a 2008 graduate of John Brown University, and has over a year experience in youth ministry. He interned for Valley E-free in Des Moines, Iowa, and also for Christ Community for a summer. Jarrod has been married to his wonderful wife Jennifer for about 6 months now. He enjoys playing your not so typical sports, like lacrosse and rugby. He attempted to play Australian no-rules football, but did not have enough time to devote to it. Jarrod enjoys Ultimate Frisbee, disc-golf, skiing, football, soccer, and other sports, too. He enjoys drawing, reading, playing video games, and especially card and board games. Jarrod loves lots of types of music, but country and rap… not so much. You can contact him at (913) 402-2742 or email him above.
Debbie Perry, Student Ministries Coordinator
Debbie is the newest member of our staff. She joined us on June 1 as our Student Ministries Coordinator. Debbie is entering her sixth year volunteering as a front line staff member and will be helping lead our new sixth grade girls this year. She was a stay home mom for 10 years prior to working as a paraprofessional in the Louisburg School District for 5 years. Debbie and her husband Tony have been married 19 years as of June 2009. Their two teenage daughters keep them very busy. Megan, 16, is a junior at Louisburg High School and Marisa, 13, is an eighth grader at Louisburg Middle School. Debbie is a bit of an animal lover… She and her family have a beagle named Tucker, a miniature dachshund named Toby, a cat named Bella, and two blue parakeets name Zippity and Doo Da. A few random facts about Debbie: she loves music and can often be seen singing it loudly in the car, her favorite kind of ice cream is Rocky Road, she secretly enjoys Nascar (ok not so secretly anymore), and she would like to take cooking lessons. In her free time, Debbie loves camping, grilling out, playing cards, photography, and hanging out with family and friends. Feel free to connect with Debbie by email (click on her name above) or by phone at (913) 402-2766.
Kenda Zerbe, Student Ministries Assistant
Kenda is our administrative go-to woman. She was a stay-at-home mom for 11 years before coming to work here in 2004. Before having children she was an Early Childhood Educator. Kenda helps with 3rd grade girls on Sunday mornings. Married 19 years to husband Brad, she has three amazing kids: Bethany, a 16-year-old junior at BV North, 13-year-old Drew, a Leawood Middle 8th grader, and 10-year-old 5th grader Lily at Mission Trail Elementary. Kenda is a voracious reader who could spend many happy days in Barnes and Noble. In her spare time, she likes to garden, take long walks, watch her children's sporting events, and spend time with her family and friends.
Andrew Burden, Digital Media Specialist
Andrew maintains the content of student ministries website, and produces video content for all of our student ministries. So... if you find any broken links on our website, he's the one to bug about it. Andrew has worked on our staff since April 2005, but he has over 18 years of youth ministry experience as a middle school and high school youth leader. He met his wife Rene (herself a middle school staff member) in the middle school room at CCC in 2001, and they have been married for over 7 years. Andrew and Rene both work with 6th graders each year, and claim all current and former middle schoolers as "their kids." For his day job, Andrew is a substitute teacher in the Olathe district, including long-term assignments in 4th and 5th grade as well as preK-6th grade art. He's also branching out to do video editing for private clients. With whatever spare time he finds, he enjoys working out, listening to music and podcasts, and playing with his iPhone (he finally broke down and got one even though it won't hold all 17,000 songs he has). |
